After our AGM on Monday 1 October our Chairman, Yvonne Miles introduced Kate Dowty who gave a talk on her quilt designs. Kate describes herself as a textile artist who works with fabric and thread to create quilted wall hangings. She explained how she loves experimenting with dyeing and painting fabric which she then incorporates in her work. Her inspiration comes from travel and her local area, West Dorset, and many pieces are based on the sea and surrounding landscape. She illustrated her talk with many quilts from her collection and shared her 'trials and errors' with us. Reported by Ros Lomas

This was an amazingly inspirational talk. I have at last achieved my first machine embroidery freee design with Kate's work in mind, and especially her comment " I don't do unpicking" ! Liberation indeed.
